Death Scythe's clan (デスサイズースの一族, Desusaizu no Ichizoku), whose current family name is Albarn (アルバーン, Arubān), is a clan usually consisting of demon weapons that have served as Death's weapon partners for generations.

History

Originating at least over 800 years ago after the birth of the first demon weapons by Arachne Gorgon (whom followed the blueprints written by the Great Sorcerer, Eibon, within the Book of Eibon), the clan would eventually come to serve under Death as his weapon partnes for generations.

About 31 years ago in the current era, clan member Spirit Albarn was born as a demon scythe. At the age of thirteen, he would attend Death Weapon Meister Academy, where he was partnered with Franken Stein, an exceptional meister whom experimented on his body for five years (the total duration of their weapon/meister) partnership.

However, the partnership would end when the woman who would become Maka's mother would deduce the experiments done on Spirit by Stein and told him. The woman would become Spirit's new meister. Before long, the pair would succeed and Spirit would rise up to become a "Death Scythe" and became the weapon partner of Death as his previous clans members had. Additionally, the two would become romantically involved and get married around the same time.

Due to Spirit's infedility during his marriage with Maka's mother, the pair would soon divorce, causing tensions between Spirit and his daughter, Maka.
