The Red Hot Runaway Express – A Magic Tool Left Behind by the Great Wizard? is the thirtieth episode of Soul Eater.

Featured AppearancesEdit

Kid, Liz, and Patty head over to a train station in the Sahara desert to investigate a possible demon tool being the power source of an unstoppable train known as the "Runaway Express". They find a little child at the station and end up facing the Fisher King, an Arachnophobia assassin, wanting to take over the tool for Arachne. The child is also revealed to be the youngest Mizune sister, and all three sides struggle to get their hands on it. The Fisher King ends up being defeated by Kid, but he also ends up knowing his father had something to do with Eibon in the past, and decides to investigate it in the library, only to discover the book about Eibon had been requested two months previous by a person with an "M" signature. Kid deduces that the M stands for Medusa, as the book was checked out on the day the kishin was revived.

Manga and Anime DifferencesEdit

  • The two-chapter arc (Chapter 30 and Chapter 31) leads to three episodes in the anime, which divide the events. Episode 29 shows the conclusion to Arachne and Medusa's meeting. This episodes does not include the party for Crona, instead focusing on earlier events: Kid and the Thompsons go to the Sahara Desert to retrieve the Eternal Spring. That party for Crona does not happen until after Kid returns in Episode 31. Therefore, in the manga, the party occurs at the same time as Kid's Sahara mission, whereas in the anime the Sahara mission seems to have happened a few days before the party for Crona, and Kid and the Thompsons are present throughout the party, as well as to wave goodbye to Crona and Ragnarok as the characters returns to lodgings at the DWMA.
