Madness (発狂, Hakkyō; alternatively translated as Onset of Madness and Madness Takeshold) is a non-magical force possessed by every living being in the world that influences behavior.[1]

A force that all living things possess within their souls, regardless of how much[2], this force plays a subtle to significant manner in dictating the behaviors of an individual dependent on their personality.[1] This force also possess special abilities in higher, stronger concentrations such as being able to jam signals and induce powerful, convincing illusions.[3]
Madness possess an duality-type relationship with magic: considered by some to be an evolved power, madness holds the ability to cancel out certain magical attacks due to being considered a more progressive power with magic being viewed as "obsolete".[4] Madness can also distort magic such as spatial magic in strong concentrations.[3] However, certain magics can be boosted using madness as a source.[5]
Madness Wavelength[]

While everyone possesses some madness within them, select individuals possess a much higher level of madness and thus, develop a "madness wavelength" capable of influencing individuals to perform certain actions or be in an emotional state dependent on the attribute of said wavelength, such as order, fear and power.[6]
