The Sky Whale are gargantuan whale-like animals seen in Sea Shepherd Village.[1]
Overview[]
Sky Whales are large creatures who reside in the sky above the Sea Shepherd Village. They appear very similar to actual whales, but with three eyes on each side of their heads. The creature appears to be peaceful and avoid attackers, and fight only when threatened.[1]
According to Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, they normally fly in a high altitude and remain unseen but because of an annual low tide, they descend to a lower altitude and can be attacked.[1]
Huntings[]
Every year, Hunters from the Sea Shepherd Village perform a ritual hunt in which they slay a Sky Whale. The ritual, dubbed a "hunt", is believed by the residents to ensure the prosperity of the village. However, they seem to acknowledge that the creature is sentient, with Ahab pleading to kill it quickly and without pain.[1]
Abilities[]
Sound (音, Oto): Sky Whales are capable of firing back sound-related roars capable of pushing back and repelling the sound-based abiliites exhibited by Soul Eater and it's usage by his Meister, Maka Albarn.[1]
Flight (フライト, Furaito): These gargantuan creatures are capable of flight despite their large size.[1]
