I'd like to clear up two things about this mysterious monkey.
- The way Maka and Kid talk about him when they first sense him makes it clear the monkey is the Death Scythe and not the Mysterious Bear.
- When the Death Scythes are summoned to Death City, Sid tells the Shinigami that he was unable to communicate with the Death Scythe from South America because he kept saying "Gao Gao". Since this is exactly what the mysterious monkey keeps saying, it's quite obvious that he's the South American Death Scythe.
