Ability or Magic? I have an answer[]

So it's been really confusing on what to classify this. However, I do have an idea but I want to run it by others to see If it makes sense. Since Asura possesses his own powers nonetheless because he too is a Shinigami and he was barely affected by the Kishin Hunter in the anime (because he's not evil yeah), this should also mean his powers/abilities aren't magical, since the same move also enables Maka to critically injure people who posses magic.JayAaerow (talk) 18:52, October 19, 2015 (UTC)

What influence, if any, could the Black Blood have on Asura in the anime withstanding Maka's Kishin Hunter? And which differences are there between the manga and the anime versions of Asura as pertains to whether his powers are Shinigami? Finally, while the manga confirms Asura is a Shinigami, does the anime ever make this confirmation?  Soul-dwelling (talk) 23:51, October 19, 2015 (UTC)

Considering Crona was able to block it, it could enable him to withstand it. However, the Black Blood isn't magical in nature. Against non-magical characters with Black Blood, it might as well be a glorified giant axe attack that's strong depending on the person. It was basically a glorified axe attack to him when Maka (which was ineffective) and Death did it (except it manage to cut off his arm to the point of regrowth and strangely left nothing behind after being cut.). Since we've seen attacks like the Genie Hunter in the anime hurt intangible people, I'm saying If Asura was at all magical, it would of done something more, even with Black Blood. Not sure how much. Also, Asura broke the Kishin Hunter with his own powers (applied some sort of red electricity to it).
Asura's powers remain about the same from manga/anime whatever was shown. Asura's own abilities were first displayed in Episode 24 (same sort of abilities from Chapter 22) with some additions (the doppleganger thing and Shield in Episode 48)but other then that, the anime did little additions that was super noticeable from Manga Asura's own abilities other then his immortality. To answer, it's about the same with some additional moves
The anime didn't go far enough to say he was a Shinigami since the last episode aired in 2009 and that revelation didn't come till around 2012-13 (I was a senior that year). However, Asura not being human has been known since Episode 19 (Chapter 17) and what he was was left in the air for that revelation. So he's still a Shinigami. The anime just didn't go far enough to reveal or offer any contradictions.

I'm glad you're asking questions cause I felt like this is sort of speculation here still.JayAaerow (talk) 00:52, October 20, 2015 (UTC)
