The Experiment Arc is the fifth story arc in the Soul Eater series. As Maka and Soul undergo a dangerous and risky training to strengthen their resonance, both alongside Black☆Star and Tsuaki encounters one of the members of the Immortal Clan, Free the Legendary Wolfman. In the aftermath of the event, the students prepare for the Ultimate Written Exam.

- After being freed from prison, Free is subtly manipulated by Medusa and joins Medusa's Faction, his inclusion due to possessing Spatial Magic derived from the Demon Eye.
- During their battle with Free, both Maka and Soul's Soul Resonance increases in power, discovering Resonance by Black Blood, and Maka utilizes Number 6 Hunt for the first time. Free also gives name to a significant ability: the Anti-Demon Wavelength.
- Black☆Star attempts Mode: Uncanny Sword and Shadow☆Star for the first time, but is unable to maintain it for no more than a few seconds.
- Maka places first place in the Ultimate Written Exam.
